The awkward question, answered first

What will this actually cost?

Almost nobody in this trade will put a number on a page. So homeowners collect three quotes with no way to judge them, and the cheapest one wins by default — which is how you end up with one thin coat over unprepped wood.

We publish our ranges, we cite where they come from, and we explain what legitimately moves the number. Then you can walk into every estimate appointment — ours included — already knowing roughly what you should be hearing.

Request a written quote for current pricing. Size-only ranges can miss prep, access, carpentry, lead-safe containment, and coating choices. We will inspect the project and give you one written price.

What we do

Eight things, done by people who do only these things

Exterior painting

Wash, scrape, sand, prime every bare board, two finish coats. The New England exterior season is short — we plan the calendar around it, not around our backlog.

What it costs & how it works

Interior painting

Most interior work happens in a house someone is still living in. That changes everything about how a crew should behave — and it is the part most contractors never write down.

What it costs & how it works

Cabinet painting

The same kitchen, a fifth of the price of new cabinets, and you keep the boxes that were built better than anything you can buy today.

What it costs & how it works

Carpentry & rot repair

Paint does not fix rot, it hides it for a season. Carpentry is part of the job, not something we hand off and hope for. The repair and the paint stay one company to call.

What it costs & how it works

Decks & fences

A deck is the hardest-working horizontal surface on your property. It also gets refinished more often than anything else, so the question that matters is what it costs you over ten years.

What it costs & how it works

House & power washing

Most “pressure washing” damage in this area is done by pressure. On wood siding we use low pressure and the right cleaner, because a wand at 3,000 psi puts water where it does not belong.

What it costs & how it works

Wallpaper & ceilings

We remove wallpaper, skim-coat walls when they need it, and work with a wallpaper partner — Tina can help you choose the paper.

What it costs & how it works

Commercial painting

Offices, retail suites, condo associations, common areas and senior housing — scheduled around your operating hours, not ours.

What it costs & how it works

Real jobs, real houses

Drag the handle

These are our own photographs of our own work. Same house, same angle, before and after.

Oak kitchen cabinets refinished in a soft cream — before Oak kitchen cabinets refinished in a soft cream — after Before After

A kitchen that did not need replacing

Same boxes, same layout, same granite. Doors came off, were degreased, sanded, bond-primed and sprayed. The homeowner kept solid hardwood cabinetry and spent a fraction of what a replacement would have cost.

Cabinet painting
Failing siding stripped, repaired and repainted — before Failing siding stripped, repaired and repainted — after Before After

When paint is not the problem

Paint was coming off in sheets because the substrate underneath had failed. Our carpenters stripped it back, replaced what was gone, back-primed every new board on all sides, and then the paint crew went to work. One company, one warranty.

Carpentry & rot repair
Exterior color change from yellow to slate blue — before Exterior color change from yellow to slate blue — after Before After

Yellow to slate blue, in one season

A full color change means real coverage — wash, scrape, sand, spot-prime every bare board, then two full finish coats. The shed and the trim were brought into the new scheme at the same time.

Exterior painting
Mahogany deck stripped, sanded and stained — before Mahogany deck stripped, sanded and stained — after Before After

Mahogany, brought back

New mahogany decking left to weather, then stripped, brightened, sanded and finished with a penetrating stain that shows the grain instead of hiding it. Stain, not paint — because paint on a deck floor peels.

Decks & fences

Why this is different

Four promises other painters could make and mostly do not

The Final Walk

We walk the property with you, write the punch list on paper, and finish every item on it before we invoice the balance. The single most common complaint about painting contractors in this area — including the best-reviewed ones — is that they fumble the last 5%. So we made the last 5% a formal, scheduled, signed step.

How a job runs

A 3-year written warranty

Not “we stand behind our work.” A written warranty in the contract covering peeling, blistering and cracking caused by workmanship, with the exclusions listed so there is nothing to argue about later. Three years is the longest anyone in MetroWest offers.

Read the terms

One project manager who speaks your language

Most of our painters are Brazilian and Portuguese is their first language — career tradespeople, several with fifteen-plus years on the brush. A customer once told us the project manager needed to be there so she could communicate with the crew. She was right. Now one named, English-speaking manager is on site at every job start, checks in daily, and gives you a direct number. Prefer Portuguese? Também falamos português.

What customers say, in their own words

Including the critical ones. A page of nothing but five stars is not credible and everybody knows it.

We recently had the exterior of our house painted by Target Painting, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. Alex and Hector did an outstanding job and were extremely careful, skilled, and attentive to detail throughout the project… The quality of the preparation and painting was excellent, and the finished house looks terrific.

Douglas R.Google · August 2026

Target Painting worked really hard to restore and paint my home. The home needed a lot of carpentry work on the south side. Target replaced/repaired all of the trim that needed attention. Then they cleaned the gutters, power-washed, caulked and prepped all surfaces for painting. The job was done correctly and not rushed. I will have Target back for several other projects I have coming up.

Jack M.Google · July 2026

I have used Target painting now for both interior and exterior painting. The exterior was just finished and they did an excellent job. Big shout out to Joe and Matheus for getting my house painted to perfection. I highly recommend this company.

Jim T.Google · June 2026

I used Target Painting to paint the exterior of my house this Spring and couldn’t be happier. Junior and his crew thoroughly prepped the surfaces, primed and painted quickly and efficiently; what a difference! All were very friendly and helpful, thank you!

Robin D.Google · June 2026

Another Great job by Target Painting, thanks to Paulo, Jose L. and Lucas Santos. This time I have a new kitchen! From the get-go every step was flawless. The prep work, execution was extensive, well-coordinated and supervised… the result is spectacular: Artists at work!

Cora J.Google · December 2025

Target Painting & Contracting is an elite team who are wonderful to work with! They are super responsive, do a great job and follow up to make sure the job is done right the first time. They expertly painted 3 interior rooms to perfection on a tight timeline to support a move while ensuring cleanliness. They even had to do a color match with an existing wall and matched it perfectly!

Where we work

MetroWest towns, and we can name what is different about each one

Our office is on Boston Post Road in Sudbury, with a second office on Thoreau Street in Concord and crews on Cape Cod. We do not claim 143 towns — we claim the ones we can get a crew to before 8:00am. That now includes the I‑93 and Route 3 towns as well as MetroWest.

FAQ

Questions people ask before they call anyone

How much does it cost to paint a house in MetroWest?

We do not sell full exterior paint jobs in the $3,000 – $5,000 range, even on houses under 1,500 sq ft. Typical exteriors land higher once prep and height are honest. Interiors are quoted as a job, not by the square foot — most rooms fall in the $800 – $2,000 range. We publish the breakdown on our pricing page, and you can get a range for your project with our quote tool.

How soon can you start?

It depends on the season and on a few other factors — crew, weather, carpentry, and what else is already booked. In general, 3–5 weeks is a fair expectation. We will always tell you a real date rather than an optimistic one.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration #177081, valid to November 16, 2027. Look it up yourself on the MA Contractor Hub. We carry general liability and workers compensation, and certificates go out from our agent on request. Full credentials →

Do you do the carpentry too, or do I need a second contractor?

We carry our own carpenters. That matters more than it sounds — replaced boards get primed on all the replacement actually matches the profile, and there is one company to call if a joint opens in two winters. Carpentry and rot repair →

What happens at the end of the job?

We walk the property with you, write the punch list on paper, and complete it before we ask for the final payment. It is the most common failure point in this trade — including for the best-regarded companies in this area — so we made it a formal step. How a job runs →
