House washing & pressure washing
Most “pressure washing” damage in this area is done by pressure. On wood siding we use low pressure and the right cleaner, because a wand at 3,000 psi puts water where it does not belong.

Soft wash on wood, cedar shingle and painted surfaces. Higher pressure only on hardscape.
Mildew, algae and pollen removed with a cleaning solution, not with force.
Plants pre-wet, covered and rinsed. This is the step that saves your hydrangeas.
Included at no extra cost as prep on every exterior paint job we do.
Why pressure is the wrong tool for siding
Wood siding is designed to shed water running down it. It is not designed to take water driven horizontally at high pressure into the laps and behind the boards. Once water is behind clapboard it takes weeks to leave, and if you paint over it you have sealed it in — which is a very efficient way to cause the peeling you were trying to fix.
A soft wash uses a cleaning solution to kill and release the organic growth, then low-pressure rinse to carry it away. It takes longer and it works better.
Where higher pressure is right
Concrete walkways, stone patios, brick, and pressure-treated decking being prepped for sanding can all take meaningful pressure. We match the tool to the surface rather than using one setting on the whole property.
Recent work
House & power washing photographs
We recently had the exterior of our house painted by Target Painting, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. Alex and Hector did an outstanding job and were extremely careful, skilled, and attentive to detail throughout the project… The quality of the preparation and painting was excellent, and the finished house looks terrific.
Target Painting worked really hard to restore and paint my home. The home needed a lot of carpentry work on the south side. Target replaced/repaired all of the trim that needed attention. Then they cleaned the gutters, power-washed, caulked and prepped all surfaces for painting. The job was done correctly and not rushed. I will have Target back for several other projects I have coming up.
I have used Target painting now for both interior and exterior painting. The exterior was just finished and they did an excellent job. Big shout out to Joe and Matheus for getting my house painted to perfection. I highly recommend this company.
FAQ
House & power washing — questions we get asked
Will washing alone make my house look painted again?
Sometimes, genuinely. If the paint film is sound and the problem is mildew and dirt, a wash can buy you two or three more years. We will tell you if that is your situation, even though it is a smaller job for us.
Is bleach safe for my plants?
The solutions we use are diluted and we pre-wet and rinse plantings. That said, tell us about anything precious and we will cover it or hand-wash that section.
